In a remarkable demonstration of logistical excellence, TRANSVALAIR, your Pangea partner in the United Kingdom, has once again proven its dedication and leadership in global complex logistics, this time as part of the logistics operations at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
After months of meticulous planning and thorough training, the TRANSVALAIR team expertly managed the critical task of delivering and positioning all security scanning equipment for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Their timely and flawless execution ensured that every Olympic venue was fortified with state-of-the-art security equipment, safeguarding athletes, spectators, and staff from the moment the games began.
This achievement is underscored by the successful movement of an impressive 96 TEUs from Malaysia and 68 full trailer loads from the UK, ensuring that over 848 tonnes of precision equipment were transported safely and on time to Paris.
Steve Morris and Peter Alfred, TRANSVALAIR‘s Managing Director and Operations Director, spearheaded this complex operation, overseeing the transport of all security scanning machines from the UK and Malaysia to Paris. These vital pieces of equipment, including 345 X-ray scanners and 1,254 metal detectors, were strategically positioned across 43 Olympic venues, ranging from the iconic Eiffel Tower, The Trocadero, The Grand Palais and Stade De France.
With the support of a dedicated local French team and hands-on involvement from Steve and Peter themselves, TRANSVALAIR ensured that each piece of equipment was delivered on time and in perfect condition. Their efforts were further supported by Roberto Bejar, the Head of IT at TRANSVALAIR, who also spent several weeks in Paris designing and implementing a sophisticated software tracking program. This system allowed for real-time monitoring of every scanner and piece of equipment, ensuring seamless coordination throughout the event.
Steve and Peter also had the honor of attending the opening ceremony, a testament to their pivotal role in this massive operation. Prior to this, they were seen at various sites, personally overseeing the placement of scanning machines and ensuring everything was in place for the Games.
As the world celebrated the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Team TRANSVALAIR was already preparing for the next reverse phase—collecting the equipment post-event and returning it to its origins, whether in Malaysia, the UK, or wherever their client wanted it to go. With the Paralympic Games on the horizon, the team’s focus remained sharp, ensuring seamless operations for both major events.
The entire Team TRANSVALAIR deserves gold medals for their unwavering dedication and flawless execution. Their performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics solidifies their reputation as a trusted partner for large-scale, high-stakes events, building on their previous successes at the UK Olympics and the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Mission accomplished—and they’re ready to do it all over again.
