Carbon management continues to take place in the top tier of Türkiye’s agenda.
At the 2nd Istanbul Carbon Summit which was organized by Sustainable Consumption and Production Association (SÜT-D) and Energy Efficiency Association (Enver) with the support of public institutions and organizations such as Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Science, Industry and Technology Ministry, all aspects of the future of the carbon economy were discussed. The European Commission, OECD, World Bank, EBRD, IETA, ICAP, POINTCARBON and REC as senior representatives of international organizations and experts from 15 different countries attended to the Summit that the issues of Carbon management, carbon trading, clean energy technologies were discussed.
This summit, the first time in Türkiye “Low Carbon Heroes” found their owners. The competition that was organized to support studies about carbon management and combating climate change as well as creat awareness about the issue, had 3 of them foreign at total 32 project candidates from public, civil society organizations and corporate institutions.
As a result of evaluation, TRANSORIENT INTERNATIONAL FORWARDING Inc. was awarded about “GREEN LOGISTICS” area, through “Transorient 45 Intermodal Green Logistics” project that was for reducing carbon emissions in transport and became “Low Carbon Hero”. About the award, TRANSORIENT INTERNATIONAL FORWARDING Inc. Managing Partner Nil TUNASAR said “In recent years, we make intensive studies about business models that is constructed with environmental awareness and we have set ambitious targets. Reducing carbon emissions by 500 tons in 2014 through 45” Containers with multimodal transport solutions which is one of our projects in this regard, we have significant progress towards green logistics.
