Russia has the biggest territory in the world – almost twice bigger than Canada and China territory. Though the population of the country is not so big – it is 143 million only which is 8th population in the world and almost equal to Bangladesh population – so that means the density of population is very low – one of the lowest in the world (181th place in the world). St.Petersburg is the shortest distance POD for delivery to Moscow. And this is the first reason for the lowest trucking rates on this routing. The second reason is that there is no need to arrange International Customs Transit for cargo arriving at St.Petersburg (unlike in all other cases with POD Kotka/Tallinn/Riga). The third reason is that in case of customs clearance of the cargo in St.Petersburg port there will be no need in bonded truck at all which will make the trucking costs almost 1.5-2 times cheaper than other options.
