PEKAES (Poland) with a mission to help

The program PEKAES Pomaga (PEKAES Helps) lasts all year round and employee voluntary activities are already a tradition in the company. The crew of the leading logistics operator actively participates in numerous charity actions every year. The list of those in need is constantly growing. The priority is to arrive on time and support those who need it most.

PEKAES, your Pangea partner in Poland, employees know perfectly well how important helping is. That is why every year the team of Volunteers starts to act and begins a mission to help those who need it most.

“Szlachetna Paczka” (Noble Gift), collecting plastic caps and funds for treatment and rehabilitation of children or joint actions with Social Assistance Centres are undertakings in which PEKAES has been involved for many years. PEKAES Group employees also have an opportunity to suggest an action in which they would like to participate and join PEKAES Pomaga team.

As in the previous years, in the period preceding Christmas, each Employee and PEKAES Carrier may prepare a Christmas gift for a child, whose parents are in a difficult life situation. All gifts will be given to the children in the last week before Christmas, during a Volunteer visit.

This year, the Volunteers from PEKAES Zielona Góra Branch, with the help of the Logistics Department in Słubice and the Carriers and Drivers, decided to help the families who are in the care of the Municipal Social Assistance Centre in Zielona Góra. Thanks to the collection it was possible to provide warm clothes and shoes for several families.

“Our employees have provided things that would be difficult for these families to acquire. Donors’ hearts are really huge! Since the beginning of December we have been supplying household chemistry, groceries, homemade preserves and toys and sweets for children. All packages are beautifully wrapped. It is worth mentioning that the Carriers cooperating with PEKAES have told us not to seal the cartons, as more gifts are coming. Our Volunteers, Employees and Business Partners are amazing!”, said Aneta Wawrzyniak, PEKAES Pomaga Volunteer from the Zielona Góra Branch.

The power to help is what matters!

PEKAES also supports “Szlachetna Paczka”, i.e. a nationwide action consisting in choosing a family and satisfying its individual needs. The help of PEKAES volunteers will also be provided to the Teresa Strzembosz House for Single Mothers in Chyliczki near Warsaw, the House for Single Mothers in Łódź and the Orphanage in Golanka Dolna. In recent weeks, the operator’s employees, as well as their families, have also been involved in a project – “A pack for a homeless puppy” for Fundacja dla Szczeniąt Judyta (Judyta Puppy Foundation). Thanks to the action, we managed to collect a considerable amount of gifts, including food, beds, duvets, pads and blankets.

Help for Ksawery

PEKAES employees also started to help Ksawery Rynkiewicz, a boy who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy and urgently needs gene therapy, which is called the world’s most expensive drug. Its cost amounts to PLN 9 million. Because the bar on the internet collection (www.siepomaga.pl) practically stands still, Volunteers decided to act by organizing a book collection for a charity auction. All books are systematically auctioned by Volunteers on the Facebook page “LICYTACJE – KSAWERY kontra SMA” (AUCTIONS – KSAWERY versus SMA).

“There are really many actions in which we participate, starting from well-known, nationwide projects such as “Szlachetna Paczka” and ending with local ones, which are also very much needed and important, such as “Donate a book to a good cause”. Our Team is really amazing! Every year they surprise with new ideas and are very committed to initiatives to help others”, says Joanna Więckowska, Marketing and Communication Director at PEKAES.

The final of this year’s volunteering will be the Christmas Charity Auction. Employees preparing Christmas tree decorations for the in-company contest can submit their works for an auction and thus support people from the close circle of PEKAES Employees who find themselves in a difficult life situation.
