This year, PEKAES celebrates the 60th anniversary of its presence in the market. On this occasion, the company decided to recollect the milestones in its history and to sum up its greatest successes. This is how a Polish transport company established in the 1950’s has grown to become a leading logistics operator.
The company was established on 22 December 1958 as the International Car Transport Company PEKAES. The company’s growth and systematic increase of its fleet of vehicles resulted in a decision to move its headquarters from Warsaw to Błonie.
In 1982, the PEKAES Auto-Transport S.A. joint-stock company was established and in 1990’s it was transformed into a holding. In 1999, PEKAES Auto-Transport S.A. assumed the name PEKAES S.A. In 2013, the company developed intermodal services using the infrastructure and competences of its subsidiaries SPEDCONT and CHEMIKALS.
Dynamic growth
Today, PEKAES Group is a modern company specializing in intermodal logistics. In this year’s 23rd ranking of TSL companies published by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, PEKAES won the 1st place in the category of revenue from the declared main activity – road shipping.
Currently, PEKAES has 16 foreign partners in 32 key countries of Europe and Asia and conducts operations nearly in all parts of the world. The company gradually grows its network of international connections. In addition to developing new package cargo lines in Europe, PEKAES focuses on development of intermodal services. The enlargement of the railroad container terminal of SPEDCONT in Łódź has made it possible to handle a large volume of goods on the new Silk Road between China and Europe.
Business measured in kilometers and cubic meters
PEKAES Group has one of the most effective package cargo networks in Poland. In addition to 19 domestic distribution terminals, the company operates 6 logistics warehouses, 1 railroad container terminal, and 2 railroad border terminals for reloading of bulk cargo. The Group employs nearly 1,100 persons.
