OGA (Oman) dispatches 64 MAN Trucks to Sohar port
OCEAN GULF AGENCIES, your Pangea partner in Oman, recently accomplished a remarkable feat by dispatching 64 MAN Trucks to Sohar port, overcoming significant height challenges in the process. The operation involved a total of 32x40ft Flat Rack containers, which were carefully transported to the port for further processing and onward delivery.
Upon arrival at Sohar port, the 32x40ft Flat Rack Containers were skillfully brought into the yard for de-stuffing. However, due to the cargos over height, conventional Flat Bed Trailers were unsuitable for transportation. The height restriction imposed by Oman’s bridges, set at 5.5 meters, demanded an innovative solution. To overcome this hurdle, Low Bed Trailers were employed, ensuring that the overall height remained below the specified limit.
The off-loading operations required specialized equipment, and a 25-Ton Crane was brought in for the task. Trucks were thoroughly inspected while secured to the flat racks to verify types of lashing and specific lashing points. Lashings were removed carefully ensuring not to disturb the balance of the trucks. Once unlashed, slings and chains were securely fastened to the trucks’ lifting points, enabling their safe removal from the containers. The trucks were then placed aside for inspection, ensuring their compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Following the successful off-loading, the empty containers were promptly returned to the port, while the trucks were transferred onto flat bed trailers for onward transport. Coordinating the movement of 32x containers between the yard and the port was a meticulous process that spanned three days, involving the utilization of 15x Lowbed trailers.
Once the trucks were relocated to the yard, 12x Flat Bed trailers were employed to transport them to their final destination. This phase of the operation was executed with precision, considering the limited timeframe available. Each container was allocated three days of free storage at Sohar port, necessitating meticulous planning and coordination by the OGA team to ensure timely delivery.
