Nomita Kothari from NEW GLOBE, your Pangea partner in India, shares her first month as CEO.

“They say the first month for anything is the toughest, be it your first day at school, a relationship, settling into a new house or city etc. I still remember my fist day with New Globe, when I entered Roy office, I saw a sea of smiling faces, the office was buzzing with the sound of keyboards & phone calls. I was extremely nervous, least knowing what to expect.

As I interacted with the team, I was pleasantly surprised as to how open & eager the Air export team was to share their experiences and knowledge of freight forwarding with me.

Ashwin’s encouragement, Anandji’s guidance, the patience of all HOD’s, Girish’s training & Sonia’s coaching were all the things that helped me in my journey.

Slowly but steadily, I learned the ropes and continue to do so each and every day.

On the 1st of April, I transitioned into my new role as CEO. However, during this time Covid began to peak and lock-downs became the norm. I was troubled & anxious about the wellbeing of our team. Suddenly face-to-face interactions were replaced with endless Zoom meetings. Phone calls with the out-station teams took the place of actual station visits.

Suppose such is life – a little bit of sunshine, a little bit of rain.

What stays constant is my hope that our team will come out of this difficult time with strength and a stronger sense of compassion for each other.
