FJT LOGISTICS (Australia) informs that Patrick Terminals to introduce an infrastructure fee 10 July

FJT LOGISTICS, your Pangea partner in Australia, would like to share with you below information.

Back in March they received advice from DP World of their intention to apply a Port Infrastructure Surcharge on all containers handled in and out of their wharf terminals in Melbourne and Sydney. This became applicable for any movements in Melbourne on or after April 3rd and Sydney on or after April 17th 2017. DP World is one of the two major stevedores operating wharf terminals and associated infrastructure in Melbourne and Sydney.

Now Patrick Terminals has released a notice advising of the introduction of an Infrastructure Surcharge and Ancillary Charges Fee – effective 10 July 2017

The rates of surcharges will be as follows:·

Sydney $25.45 per box
Fremantle $4.76 per box
Fisherman Islands (Brisbane) $32.55 per box
East Swanson Dock $32 per box

The infrastructure surcharge will be applied to both road and rail transport operators for all full container movements, both import and export.

Patrick has justified the need for the charge based on rent, land tax and council rate increases.

Patrick has also stated that they are incurring rising terminal infrastructure maintenance costs relating to the landside interface operations and will use the surcharge as their cost recovery mechanism.
