As part of the Canadian government’s ongoing effort to improve air cargo security, the Air Cargo Security Program was put in place to mitigate the risks to airline passengers as a result of breaches in cargo security. Colbeck & Clarke has been actively involved in the program since its inception in 2005 and believes quite strongly in doing their part to make airline travel safer on a global basis. This includes maintaining a secure cargo facility and aligning only with respected industry partners and secure shippers. Maintaining these high standards is key and all Colbeck & Clarke Inc. team members are fully trained and compliant with the current Transport Canada regulations.
The specific requirements of the Air Cargo Security program are as follows:
require air carriers to secure all air cargo before loading onto the aircraft to the same level of security as that for passenger baggage;
recognize technological and other screening processes as acceptable ways to screen air cargo;
detail performance standards for screening equipment, cargo screeners and their training, and supply chain system operations;
formalize supply chain security requirements for those handling air cargo from the time cargo is accepted until it is loaded into aircraft; and
provide for adding specific measures for all-cargo flights.
On June 10th, 2015, an audit and inspection of Colbeck & Clarke Inc. facilities was conducted by Transport Canada and their renewal in the program was granted. Colbeck & Clarks Inc.’s approved participant (AP) status is granted as Colbeck & Clarke Inc. exceeds the security regulations set forth by Transport Canada.
